(Yeah. I knew I was forgetting something.)
Editor’s note: Thanks to everyone for their very kind words and gentle nudges to not self-diagnose. The notion that action is what moves you places is definitely true, and I’ve decided that I’m going to bring this up with the husband this weekend. He’s already game to speed up the timeline, so it’s more of a “Yeah, you know what you were saying earlier? Maaaaybe we should do that” conversation.
(Thank you for being awesome, guys. Seriously. You realized I didn’t need hair pats; I needed a knock over the head.)
So what else will happen this weekend?
This weekend will be spent cleaning house for the arrival of the in-laws next weekend.
I’m still very happy they’re not staying with us, but I’m also kind of annoyed that I have to put up with them for about 48 hours. My temper’s pretty short these days, so I did warn my husband that it’s quite possible I’ll go off on them if they act likes asses. Husband gleefully told me to go for it.
(I’m happy to do the dirty work in this instance.)
We’re planning to spend part of the time in Annapolis, which is a city I’ve never been to despite living in Maryland for nearly eight years. I don’t think the husband has, either. Rumor has it that the Kilwins in Annapolis may have blue moon ice cream, and I’m going to drag everyone there even if the in-laws get grumpy. I mean, for heaven’s sake—it’s blue moon ice cream. It’s a necessity of life!
(Any other recs for spending the day in Maryland’s fine state capital if you’ve been? These visits have to be choreographed to the most minute step.)
In addition to the cleaning, I plan on getting a pedicure (last week’s was cancelled), doing some short-story writing, and will be attending a meeting of my volunteer group. I’m not looking forward to it as I’ll have to very professionally lay down some boundaries with a fellow volunteer, but it must be done. It’s good for me, right, to iron out differences in a collegial spirit?
(The goal is to be assertive, not aggressive. I also don’t want to be passive aggressive, because that is no bueno.)
And last but not least, I have to prep this weekend for another in-person interview on Monday morning. Eek!
