What’s a great way to wake up on a Monday morning, after staying up way too late with the husband, drinking rum and Cokes and giggling over anything and everything?
One, not hungover. (Excellent.) Two, opening your email to see that you’ve been selected for the 2014 Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run. (Most excellent!) After a shimmy of triumph, it was time to get to work. I booked a room at the race hotel; as the time gets closer, the husband and I will decide where we’ll have a pasta dinner the night before and a filling brunch the morning after. My husband, mind you, doesn’t run the race, nor do I require him to come down to the finish line to cheer me on. But he is responsible for all meals!
The Cherry Blossom Ten is my favorite race ever (as mentioned before). This will be my fifth time running, fourth year in a row. I’ve actually been accepted six times, but didn’t run the race the first year I was accepted because the husband and I had to go to a wedding. I plan on starting a good training regime in the New Year (and I am prepping for it by going to the gym every other day and being active on the days I’m not at said gym), and I am going to blast my way into the blue corral; I am about one minute away from moving into that corral from the orange. Because I routinely shave at least a minute from year to year (one year, I had a whopping seven-minute shave), I have full confidence that this will happen.
Oh, yes. It will happen.
